Racing Looms

Once again, over the last week, I have been doing a considerable amount of training and since it is half term, I have been taking advantage of the light to ride during the days when i'm not working.
As you may know, my first race is this Sunday, in Clitheroe, and I have been told that I need to focus on finishing with the main group, never mind about winning. However, me constantly being the competitive type, I have decided that if I do stay with the main group into the finishing stages of the race, I'll attack, or if I'm spent and have to energy left, compete in a bunch sprint.

I finally managed to secure finance for my 'super-bike' and I got my hands on it yesterday, although it has just been sat in my room looking lonely since I've been so busy recently that I haven't had a chance to ride the beauty.

Preparation is Key

It has been a hectic week of training, bike maintenance and trying to secure finance for my new 'superbike' . Since the last post, I have racked up over 15 hours  on the bike in preparation  for my first race in Clitheroe, The Clayton Velo Handicap.
After much research on the British Cycling website, I found out that in fact I will be racing with the Elites and Pro's at this particular event, and since that I have been putting in some quality, intensive riding with local ex-pro Chris Young.
Hopefully I will be able to put some pictures up from that race in just under two weeks.
The week after Clayton Velo is the Eddie Soens Memorial race at Aintree. This race traditionally signals the start of the British racing season, with several domestic teams being launched at this race, such as the Raleigh Racing team this year.

Also have a look at my friend Joel's blog at www.joeldavisonracing.blogspot.com with writing about how his racing is going for him in Belgium.

Thanks For Reading

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to my first blog of the season. Hopefully, over the coming year I will update this blog on a weekly basis with news from my races
success and failures, notable team or sponsorship news and maybe the odd anecdote from my riding.

The purpose of this blog is to promote myself into the world of road cycling, and hopefully in the process I can entertain you for a few minutes. Also, as the year goes on I will tell you my plans for the season and where I predict my racing will take me, and whether I will make it professionally.

I have been riding now for 2 years after purchasing my first road bike from Pennine Cycles and have only taken part in a few races and haven't really taken racing too seriously. However, I hope to participate in 40+ events this year and get some decent results.

Thanks for Visiting and Enjoy!
